- : Not only do they cost the same but the PC's come with more power and the
- : ability to run some very neat software.
-
- I would despute that idea that PCs cost the same, PCs are about half as
- expensive as AT a1200s. Unless they are selling a1200s with monitors, 8 megs
- of fast ram, and hard drives, not to mention external keyboards, real cases,
- etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc, etc...
-
- : The bottom line is that there really is no incentive to purchase the current
- : machines. Maybe if AT can produce an Amiga that can run IBM compatible progs
- : as well as Amiga progs (at the same or faster level of performance as IBM pcs)
- : then people might purchase them. Although, they'd have to at least match the
- : IBM prices. Too me, this seems an unlikely scenario.
-
- The idea that you can bridgeboard or emulate PCs to achieve success with the
- amiga has been tried before, other than an even smaller niche market than the
- amiga has is it been successful. It is basically saying the machine you bought
- is not as good as a PC therefore you have to emulate it in slow motion or pay
- double for a PC on a card.
